Mary E. Phillips Dress Code
I have mixed feelings toward the Mary E. Phillips
dress code. I like the Mary E. Phillips (MEPHS) because it is easier for
me to dress in the mornings. I dislike the MEPHS dress code because it
does not let us be free and express ourselves as individuals. I also
dislike it because I believe it is disrespectful to the students.
Hopefully this essay will make administration think about changing
the dress code in MEPHS.
I like MEPHS dress code because it
is easier for me to get dressed in the mornings. I do not have to look for cloth to wear in
the mornings. This gives me more time to
do my makeup, my hair or anything else that I need to do in the mornings. All I have to do in the mornings is look for
my khaki pants and a black, white or grey shirt. I don't have to figure out whether my outfit
matches or not because I don’t have many colors to choose from.
I don't like the MEPHS dress code
because it does not let us be free and express our individuality. We have to use specific colors. Everyone looks the same, when in reality we
are all different. Everyone is unique
and with the dress code that uniqueness is taken away from us. US fought for freedom in war and won its
freedom from England. They fought
because they wanted to be able to express themselves and who they really
are. Having a dress code contradicts
what our ancestors wanted America to be.
I believe that the MEPHS dress code
is disrespectful. Having a dress code is
like saying that teenagers are not responsible enough to pick something
appropriate to wear. As young adults we
should be given the option to wear whatever we want. The students that do not have the sense to
dress appropriately should be punished.
They should be punished because we have to make our own decisions and if
we make a bad one we should accept it and take the punishment.
The MEPHS dress code is
good because it’s easier to dress in the mornings. We do not have to waist so much time looking
for cloth. I also have to two reasons
why I don’t like the dress code. The
first one is that as students, we have to listen to what everyone says and not
having a dress code is the only way that we feel like ourselves. The dress code is also disrespectful because
by implying a dress code is like saying that we cannot make good
decisions.
Great essay Cindy! Keep up the good work and remember to proofread it carefully before submitting.
